John Heard, owner of NIA Home Inspections LLC, leads a uniquely dedicated home inspection company licensed in New York and certified in Pennsylvania. He is also a certified FHA 203(k) Renovation Consultant, bringing extensive expertise in construction management, property evaluation, and consulting.

With over 45 years of experience in the construction industry, John possesses deep knowledge across every phase of building—from planning and safety to inspection and project oversight. His diverse background includes work in nuclear facilities, commercial properties, educational institutions, residential construction, renovations, construction safety, inspections, and professional consulting.

John earned a Bachelor of Science in Building Technology from Tuskegee University, establishing a strong academic foundation that has supported decades of hands-on industry leadership.

As an InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector (CPI), John has met the rigorous standards set by the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. The CPI designation is a federally registered certification mark that reflects professionalism, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuing education within the inspection industry.

NIA Home Inspections continues to grow to better serve clients and the community. The company now offers in-person OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour safety training, supporting safer job sites and improved workplace practices. In the near future, NIA plans to expand further with the launch of a dedicated Drone Services Division, enhancing inspection capabilities through advanced aerial technology.

John’s commitment extends beyond his profession into the community he proudly serves. He has maintained a strong presence in the Poughkeepsie area as a devoted member of Beulah Baptist Church for more than 25 years, where he actively participates in the Scholarship Ministry and the Fine Gold Men’s Ministry, and enjoys singing in the Men’s Chorus.

He is also a Lifetime Member of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship, Inc., with over 45 years of membership, and has been an active member of Prince Hall Masonry for more than 35 years. These longstanding affiliations reflect his dedication to service, leadership, and community engagement.
